Frequently Asked Questions

What happens in the initial session?

This is your opportunity to find out what counselling & psychotherapy is all about.
This is also when you can discuss details such as fees and how often/how long you would meet for.

How long is a session?

A typical session is usually 50 minutes.

How frequent are sessions?

Usually once a week but can vary according to need.

How long do I need to be in therapy for?

This depends on a number of factors and can be discussed or reviewed at any point within the therapy.

How can I be assured of confidentiality?

All our therapists adhere to a strict Code of Ethics. As a call of duty confidentiality would only be breached if a therapist was aware of a situation where there might be a possibility of self-harm or harm to others. This would usually be discussed and exercised with the client’s permission.

Are the fees set?

Fees will be discussed in the initial session and can be reviewed if circumstances changed.

Do you work long or short term?

Our therapists work both long and short term and this is something you will discuss and decide with your therapist.

Do you give advice?

The nature of therapy is not advice giving. You will be supported in thinking about the issues at hand and you will gain a better sense of awareness and understanding which will enable you to deal effectively with your own concerns.

Do you see only Jewish clients?

No, we are open to seeing Jewish and non-Jewish clients. Our service prides itself on being culturally sensitive regardless of religion and/or religious observance.

How do I contact a therapist?

Please follow the links on the left hand side and call or email one of the therapists directly.

Why a Jewish Therapist?

There may be a number of reasons why you are searching for a Jewish therapist. Maybe you feel a Jewish therapist will be able to understand you better. Our therapists are particularly skilled in working with what being Jewish may mean to you. We also welcome non-Jewish clients who may have reason to be seeking a Jewish therapist.
